The Kneady-Gritty

Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?

That will have to be baking. I have loved baking cakes since a very young age, and have taught baking to friends who have made a trade out of it.

It’s not like I want to actually outgrow that hobby, but calories awareness and respect for the fact that such things as world hunger exists doesn’t allow me to engage in mindless food consumption or waste anymore.

I’ve baked just twice in seven years, and I gained a few pounds that season, but it was a justifiable few pounds and they were addressed.

However, if I were to be surrounded by a large family and lots of friends again, I can’t guarantee that I wouldn’t indulge myself with the hobby of baking again, especially knowing that there’ll be people to consume it, the calories will be evenly distributed, and nothing will go to waste.

Now that I’m writing about it, my senses are filled with memories of sweet buttery aroma complexed with nutmeg and vanilla essence infiltrating the whole house and it feels heavenly.

For now, I have found other healthy outlets to stimulate my creativity without waste or harm to my body in any way, so I’m sticking with those alternatives. I’m fine with looking at baked pastries behind glass doors in the refrigerator in grocery stores. They’re so pretty and colorful, and should not be subjected to being eaten!
