Hello, World!

Share what you know about the year you were born.

It’s my birthday in a few days, and I’m realizing that I don’t know a lot about the year I was born.

My parents say it was a good year and there was abundance. The fact that I was a post-term baby may confirm what they say.

Yes, when things are going well in a young family, there’s a likelihood of having a post-term baby.

The speculative science around this is that the baby becomes really comfortable in their internal milieu and care nothing of the world without.

I understand that I was born in the evening, or news of my birth reached home in the evening. I’m not sure.

But people were getting ready to celebrate the successful completion of the year and the welcoming of the new year.

I’m a New Year’s Eve baby! It’s like eating your cake and having it too! There’s no way to explain what I mean here to anyone.

Politically, my country was a budding sovereignty with rather poor negotiation skills and poor understanding of neocolonialism.

Luckily, I’ve been able to witness and participate in a healthy communal living which existed at the time of my birth. It’s been very helpful in shaping my reality as an immigrant.

Whatever happened in the year of my birth, I’m utterly grateful for my life and how it has unfolded thus far, and I’m totally hopeful and excited for an unknown future!
